#155 - 158

The Best of Times

Fallen leaves, decaying matter,
Sweet sensations, Fry batter,
Carnival barkers, Illicit thrills,
Popping oil, Flashing lights,
The best of times.

Other children shouting, Other Parents smiling,
Fumes of funnel cakes, Iridescent bulbs aglow,
Other smiling couples, Other happy families,
Darts popping balloons, Hammers hitting bells,
The best of times.

Envious sadness, Thoughts despair,
Wishing for more, Accepting less,
The best of times.

Birthdays

The child blows the
Cake with candles ablaze-
Yesterday's gifts today.

Springtime

Dandelion fluff frames your face
While the wind flutters and dances
Hundreds of cascading parachutes flying.

You smile, I have lost.

Losing has never felt so good.

#152 - 154

Loss

In my youth, I denied Wisdom's bosom.
Stretching clumsy thoughts
Through warrens of ignorance;
I embraced self-absorption.

Seek

I seek you now,
          when all is lost.
This bosom, in younger moods,
           I did spurn.
Through youthful arrogance
           I did elope.

But now,
           with wishes and dreams decayed,
I seek
the paths and treads of happier times.
I seek forgiveness,
           an welcoming embrace,
I find ashes.

Carnival

Clamor of ringing bells,
Tin-like shrills and metallic whistles,
Percussive tapping,
Child's laughter
Cheap thrills
Silences

#149-151

Summertime

Daisy blossums sway
while the North wind blows -
Reaper's scythe cuts

Donkeys

A herd of donkeys
Graze among  meadow grass-
thistle blooms in stones

Apathy

I do not know the answer.
The questions rest upon my lips,
never asked.

Fear petrifies me.
Anger stalls me.

All is lost

A few days and a few hundred poems to go

For the next few days I will posting a number of poems without any day-to-day information behind them. The key is to make sure that I reach 365 poems by the anniversary of my first post of 06-14-2013. Currently I have 148 poems. So 217 poems in 19 days, no biggy.

Anyways, wish me luck.

#148 - Questioning

Reaching aspects of loneliness
Desiring aspects of comfort
Unknowable aches surround me
Unwanted knowledge consumes me

I sing the song of whippoorwills
The death stalkers croon
Giving way to deaths desires
Receive the comfort of
A cold bosum

Warning:  There is no poetry past this point.  You have been warned.

Today is May 11, Mother's Day in the United States.

I have been spending the weekend with my beautiful wife and mother of my daughter.  Sorry for the small updates.

Till tomorrow,

Thomas

#147 - 20/20

These cloudy eyes of mine
perceive the thoughts of numbness
from those who deceive

#146 - Giving Up

I ask questions to unwanted answers
then cringe when I receive them

I seek the pieces to lost horizons
then gasps when I perceive them

I grasp at unraveling strand
then silence as I release them
